Bail is some form of property or money given to or promised to the
Courts, for the release of an defendant from jail. This is done under
the pretenses that the the defendant will show up for their court
appearances until a judgment or dismissal is entered against him/her.
In the event a court date is missed, Bail is usually forfeited and a
warrant for Failure to Appear is then issued for the defendant. In
some cases additional warrants can be issued for Bail jumping.
